Any and all comments to mwood95@sghs.nsw.edu.au. This chapter is dedicated to EVERYONE who has ever written to me about this story, but most of all Roo, who was really sweet, and mentioned me in her own author's notes. We really need to get together some time. I do not own Sailor Moon, and I'm sure everyone reading this knows that I don't, so you can insert your own disclaimers here. This story, however, is copyright October 1998 to Melanie Wood. If you wish to post it anywhere else, ask me first. I won't say no. The characters Matthew and David are based on my little brothers, so don't tell them. Oh, and one last thing. This chapter is of a much lighter tone than the rest of them. Its not really humour, it just doesn't have as much Serenity angst as the rest of the story did. This chapter is simply a short conclusion that ties up a few loose ends. It ends kinda quickly, but I truly couldn't think what else needed to be put in there. Moon Memories Chapter 3 By Melanie Wood. I look at the clock. 3:38. Sere should be here in two minutes. I attempt to get back to work, but I am not successful. I shouldn't be too surprised, however. I've been trying to work all day without much success. I sneak another glance at the clock. 3:39! Well. The clock is obviously in a conspiracy against me. It has to die. The door to my office opens. "Ms Moon? Is everything all right?" I glance at my personal assistant sheepishly. "Um...oops?" I didn't notice at the time that I was throwing it, but I had aimed the clock...well, I aimed the clock directly at the window. And I swear that it was NOT my fault that the window smashed, and the clock was lying dead on the ground, thirty or so floors below in a pile of glass. "Matthew...Well..." I stammer, trying to come up with an excuse. I finally decide on the truth. "The clock was evil. I had to kill it before it destroyed us all." I say this with a very straight face, and Matthew looks at me as if I was an alien from another planet. I ponder telling him that I in fact AM an alien from another planet, but, funnily enough, I am saved by the very clock that had caused the whole disaster. That, and an incredibly scared secretary. "Ms...Ms Moon?" "Yes David?" "Um...there is a girl outside your office. She...she looks like you, but her hair... is different. She's holding a clock that she says you...threw out your window Ma'am. She's apparently got most of the staff here in shock...she says she's your..." He stops, as if he were afraid that I would kill him if he went on. "Yes, David...?" "Well, she says she's your daughter, Ma'am." I keep a straight face, although I am laughing inside. "Well, what are you doing about this? I'm sure that you have not ENCOURAGED this little facade. After all, your job could be on the line here." By this time, both Matthew and David are cowering in their boots. I decide to move in for the kill, but then Matthew gives me the most delightful opening. "I'll...get rid of her, Ma'am." Ah ha! Perfect opportunity. They are both about to leave the room when I open my mouth. "Absolutely not! You will let my daughter into the office right now! And after that, I am taking the rest of the day off." Two mouths drop, followed by two bodies. Stepping over the unconscious forms of my personal assistant and secretary, I step out of the office, and discover about sixty or seventy employees of mine staring at one fourteen year old girl who is having hysterics of laughter on the floor. I hold her until she calms down, take her arm, and we walk out of the office together. It feels wonderful to be able to hold her like this, although I know that I will get a LOT of questions about this in the office tomorrow, as well as a lot of rumours. I shrug this off, and turn my attention to my daughter. "So, Sere darling. How was school today?" She looks ashamed for a minute before confessing. "I didn't exactly go." I look at her in shock. "What do you mean by, you 'didn't exactly go?' I'm not angry at her. In fact, quite the contrary. I am simply wondering why on earth she didn't go to school, and why I didn't get to take the day off work with her. "Well, it was like this. You see, when I got home, Elaine and Ken were still awake. So I decided to tell them everything. But they already knew, except about you coming back, why didn't you tell me they knew? Anyway, so I told them all about you, and a couple of other things, oops, wasn't supposed to tell you that, and they said I could stay home to work on this project of mine. Elaine helped." Panting with the effort of saying all this without taking a breath, Sere looks up at me expectantly. I only have one thing to say. "What's the project?" Fear stabs my heart as she looks up at me with incredibly evil eyes. "Oh, nothing. You'll find out tonight - I mean, I'll tell you about it tonight. Shall we go to Darien's? We have a lot of stuff to sort out after yesterday." Suspicious (obviously) I agree, but decide to watch my back. When my daughter gets THAT look in her eyes, you really need to be careful. Knock knock! Knock Knock! KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK!!!!! I grab Sere's hand before she can bash the door again. It was a good thing, too, because just as I do, Darien opens the door. He jumps in surprise. "Serena!" "Hi Darien. We need to talk." He sighs in defeat. "Yeah. I know. Would you and...you and Serenity like to come in?" He turns to let us in, and Sere and I give each other a high five behind his back. He looks at us in suspicion, but when greeted by two innocent looks. When he looks at Sere, he melts. We walk in and sit on the couch. Darien takes the armchair opposite us. "Sere..." "I know." "I only..." "I forgive you. "Will you..." "Of course." I sit there, feeling as though something is missing. I decide to but in and see what it is. "Sweetheart, is it just me, or did I miss the majority of that conversation." She laughs. "Mother, Darien and I have the same link that you and I do, there is no need to talk at all. It is only the fact that we're so used to talking that..." She trails off. I nod in understanding. Then an evil thought occurs to me. "Darien, where is the bathroom?" He points to a room to his left. I smile. I may as well leave the lovebirds alone for a while. I take my time in the bathroom, rebraiding my hair twice, reapplying all mf my make up, and exploring Darien's cupboards. When I return to the room, I see that Darien is missing. Until I look towards the couch. Ohh...opportunity! "Darien, if you don't watch those hands, I'm going to have to call Serena's father." The two of them jump. Mission accomplished. Then Darien grins. "Well, I don't know how Andrew would feel about that..." I glare at him. Just then, there is a knock on the door. "Darien!" the voice calls. I freeze. "Do you happen to know where Andrew or Lizzie are?" Phoebus! I look at my daughter suspiciously, but she is not there. I turn just in time to see her open the door. Phoebus (now named Peter) looks down at her with a sort of recognition in his eyes. I freeze, hoping he will not see me if I do not move. It doesn't work. The first thing he does is glance in my direction. He stands as still as I do, simply staring at me. "Serenity?" "Hello, Peter." Something seems to click in his head as he looks from me, to Serena, and back again. A gentle smile lights up his face. "No..." His voice is so soft that I can barely hear it. What I do hear, however, is the sound of hands slapping each other. I turn just in time to see my brat of a daughter and her equally annoying boyfriend give each other a high five. Phoebus obviously sees it too. "Darien..." he looks towards me. "Is there something you have to tell me?" Darien grins, slyly. "No, but I believe that Serenity does." I glare at him. It doesn't work. Phoebus is still looking at me with an expectant look in his eyes. "Well, um...to tell you the truth..." I can't stand it any more. "Serena Lillianna Moon, I am going to KILL you!" My daughter gives a shriek and dodges out of the way as I dive for her. I think my anger is fuelled more by the fact that the little chit is LAUGHING at me, than what I realise she has actually done this afternoon. Let us just say, I have a strong suspicion that I know what the "project" she was talking about earlier was. Brat. I am just about to move in for the kill when I see a hand reach out and catch me. Phoebus. He seems to be struggling to say something, before finally just coming out and saying it. "Serenity..." he gestures toward Serena. "Who is this?" "That would be our daughter." I say this in the childlike, straightforward, I'm-too- cute-to-die tone of voice that Serena is so famous for. "Our..." his voice is filled with wonder until he finally realises who's apartment he's in. Than his voice turns dark. "Darien?" For the first time in my life, I see Darien absolutely petrified. But then Serena just had to make it all better again. No words, she just stood there and looked up at him in her look-at-me-there-is-nothing-else-going-on-in-the-world-aren't-I-so-cute expression that can turn even Mars into a gelatine mess. Phoebus was absolutely no competition. He fainted. *!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*! Epilogue. I think it was about three hours until he woke up. I wasn't counting. I still amazes me how well Serena and Phoebus get on. But, hey, if everything else in my life is perfect, why not that too? And, basically, that's all I really have to say. Well, except I hope I see you all at Serena and Darien's wedding today. It's funny, you really can't tell that she's... *Sorry about that. Ignore Mother. I'll see you all later. Bye! -Serena* The End. See you all soon! -Mel.
